Manufacturers have a variety of alternatives to include sustainable yarns into carpet solutions and meet sustainability goals more quickly and effectively, thanks to the specialist in polyamide (PA) 1 step 3 ply yarns.

“Yarn is the primary component of carpets and plays a key role in creating carpets for homes, businesses, and automobiles that are more environmentally friendly. By giving a guide to our various market-ready options for more sustainable solutions through our SustainableYarns web platform, we are lowering the CO2 emissions of carpet products and assisting in the fight against climate change. Glenn Hyzak, global sales director for B.I.G. Yarns, claims that none of this is at the expense of the unrestricted colour and design options or high quality that customers have come to expect from our yarn products.

Opportunities to design using recycled content yarn (EqoCycle) are provided by the Sustainable Yarns line. after the introduction of new polyamide 6 (PA6) EqoYarn at Clerkenwell Design Week, to also exploit the low-impact value chain. using renewable resources (EqoBalance).

newly added Based on the most recent advancements in polymer production, EqoYarn is a revolutionary low-impact PA6 carpet yarn that gives carpet manufacturers additional options to lessen their impact and allows yarn producers to cut their carbon footprint by over 50%.

B.I.G. Yarns has chosen a small number of best-in-class partners for its EqoYarn Bulk Continuous Filament (BCF) production process. These partners have significantly improved their sustainability and decreased their greenhouse gas emissions as a result of ongoing investments in process efficiency, renewable energy, heat optimisation, and waste reduction. As a result, EqoYarn has a 4 kg CO2 carbon footprint. eq/kg yarns, which is up to 50% less CO2 than traditional PA yarns.

Customers who use EqoBalance PA6 yarns can reduce their CO2 emissions by up to 75%. These yarns have a carbon footprint of 1.98 kg CO2 eq./kg and are produced with polymers derived from renewable resources such as organic waste from frying oil rather than virgin or fossil feedstock. They aid carpet producers in producing goods with incredibly low carbon footprints.

The 75% recycled content in EqoCycle PA6 yarns comes from recycled and regenerated PA6 granules and is totally recyclable. They provide the same high-quality performance as virgin PA6 yarn with the added benefit of a 37% CO2 reduction, with a carbon footprint of 4.64 kg CO2 eq./kg yarns. EqoCycle Without compromising the quality of the finished product, yarns provide carpet manufacturers with a sustainable alternative to assist them lower their goods’ environmental impact and transition to a circular economy.

According to Emmanuel Colchen, General Manager of B.I.G Yarns, “B.I.G. Yarns is focused on leading the way in providing sustainable solutions, and to achieve this our focus is on optimising production chains rather than using offsetting.” “We are decreasing emissions from our own operations, but since polymers, which are our raw materials, have the highest impact on our CO2 emissions, it is critical to include supplier partners in reducing emissions by adopting bio-based products as well. By providing the correct product, the Beaulieu International Group hopes to set the bar and reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible. , based on sustainable parameters. This is part of the efforts to reach our Net Zero target by 2030.”
In addition to the different CO2-reducing options, B.I.G. Yarns’ customers can access an unlimited colour range to elevate their designs. Its BCF technology for polyamide yarns, twisted and heat-set yarns, one-colour to multi-colour, between 650 and 15000 dTex, along with its colour studio, are available to support their creation of unique and customised collections.
