In the first quarter, US apparel imports from Central America and the Dominican Republic saw a significant decline, albeit less than the overall shipments, as US buyers gave preference to proximity. Results vary significantly among the supplying countries and product categories. Our report provides a comprehensive overview of US apparel imports from Haiti and the CAFTA-DR countries, namely Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic, in the initial quarter of 2023. We compare the US imports per product category from CAFTA-DR with the overall shipments to give a better understanding of the trends in the market.
