Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Friday that Amravati would attract investment of over 10,000 crore and create over three lakh jobs under the PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) scheme. Amravati was one of seven cities shortlisted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the establishment of seven mega textile parks.

Speaking to the media in Mumbai, Fadnavis expressed his gratitude to Modi for choosing Amravati for the project, where he oversaw the creation of an ecosystem related to the textile sector from 2014 to 2019. “We had sent out a proposal regarding this and followed it up frequently. Amravati has a large number of operating textile mills as a result of prior government efforts. One lakh direct jobs could be created by the new facility, in addition to 200,000 indirect employment,” he claimed.

The project, according to Fadnavis, will boost prosperity in the cotton-rich area.
