The Tamil Nadu Small and Micro Industries Association (TANSTIA) praised the Budget’s announcements on Monday and urged the administration to enact its demands gradually over the following three years. According to TANSTIA President K. Mariappan, the budget contains a number of encouraging announcements.
Mr. Mariappan noted that the textile park in Salem, which will cost $880 million and span 119 acres, had already been announced by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, but he added that it has now been properly included in the budget with a funding allocation.
Mr. Mariappan urged the state government to adopt the 50 suggestions that the N. Sundaradevan committee gave in February 2022, noting that many of them, except from a select handful, were not taken into account by the government in this budget. “We demand that the government put all of the suggestions into action, including the establishment of the MSME Welfare Board and insurance for MSMEs, the premiums for which will be covered by the State government. There won’t be any more demands from our end if these 50 proposals are followed, he continued.
