MARKET OUTLOOK
• Today, the BSE Sensex opened at a level of 60703.64 points with a fall of 102.58 points. On the other hand, the NSE’s Nifty opened at a level of 17860.00 points with a fall of 33.50 points.

• Today, the rupee opened at a level of Rs 82.63 against the dollar with a weakness of 12 paise. On the other hand, on Thursday, the rupee closed at a level of Rs 82.51 against the dollar with a weakness of 1 paise.

• New Delhi: Home textile exports from India are expected to fall 16-18% year-on-year in FY23 with a slowdown in demand, especially from the US and Europe, and increase in material and logistic costs, according to a report by Care Edge Ratings.

• LAHORE: Cotton seed companies allege that unre­gistered players in the market are selling unprocessed and spurious seed in Sindh and coupled with other factors this is damaging crop yield in the province.

• The U.S. Agriculture department late on Wednesday reduced Egypt’s cotton imports by 23.8% due to lower domestic use.

North Zone:

Cotton traded steady tone across major spot market of north India on Friday. Prices were quoted up to 25-50 / maund yesterday evening. Today weather clear. New crop – cotton traded at ready delivery – In Punjab,  Rs 6,225-6,325 a maund. In Haryana, it offered at Rs 6,300-6,400 a maund. while in Upper Rajasthan, quoted readty delivery at Rs 6,425-6,525 a maund.

Central Zone:

Cotton spot prices steady tone across west India market on Friday. Sankar-6, new crop 29 mm (RD-75 & MIC-3.8), in Gujarat traded at Rs 61,500-62,000 a candy and 28.5mm (RD-74) quoted at Rs.60,500-61,000 a candy. V-797 trade at Rs 45,000-46,000 (12-15% trash condition) a candy for February / March delivery. While in Maharashtra, new crop good grade cotton (29mm) quoted at Rs 60,500-61,000 a candy.

South Zone:

Cotton spot price was steady tone across the major trading centers of south India.

INTERNATIONAL UPDATES
US Cotton Futures :

Cotton Firm At The Close: March and October cotton contracts stayed in the black with a 13 and an 8 point gain respectively on Thursday. The other nearbys closed with losses of as much as 19 points. The March contract was up by 93 points at the high. Dec cotton was a 23 point discount to March at the settle.  Weekly data from USDA’s FAS had a strong 262,788 RBs of old crop cotton sales for the week that ended 2/02. That was up from 170k RBs last week and from 185k during the same week last year. China and Turkey were the top buyers. Weekly Exports were 210k RBs, leaving the accumulated total at 4.8 million. For new crop, USDA shows 1.261 million on the books, a 30% lighter volume than this time last season. USDA’s DSQ had 2,841 bales sold at spot in the 2/09 report for an average price of 83.32 cents. The Cotlook A Index was 215 points stronger on 2/08, to $1.00 95/100 /lb. The FSA reduced the week’s AWP for cotton by 83 points to 74.41 cents/lb.
