The 82nd edition of the National Garment Fair (Spring–Summer), organised by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), concluded in Mumbai with strong trade turnout and business activity, reflecting steady demand in the domestic apparel market for the first half of 2026.

The Spring–Summer edition of the 82nd National Garment Fair (NGF), organised by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), concluded after a three-day run from January 20 to 22, 2026, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Goregaon East, Mumbai.

Guests of Honour at the fair included Ashish Kewalramani of Ashish NX, Nagpur, and Ganesh Narayan Beria of Nagarmal Sheonarain & Sons, Arrah, Bihar. The inauguration was attended by CMAI office bearers including Santosh Katariya, President; Rahul Mehta, Chief Mentor; Rohit Munjal, Vice President and Chairman of the Fair Committee; Naveen Sainani, Hon. General Secretary; Paresh Vora, Hon. Treasurer; Mukesh Jain, Hon. Joint General Secretary; and Dinesh Nandu, Hon. Joint Treasurer, among others.

The exhibition recorded footfalls of over 24,000 trade visitors comprising national and regional retailers, distributors, and wholesalers. Business interactions during the fair indicated encouraging order volumes, pointing to a positive retail outlook for the coming season.

The event was inaugurated by Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Addressing participants, he noted that the fair’s longevity reflects its relevance to the domestic apparel sector. He highlighted domestic consumption growth of 7–8 percent annually and underlined the importance of formalisation, technology adoption, productivity, sustainability, and speed to market in strengthening competitiveness. He also reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting MSMEs and their integration into global value chains.

Santosh Katariya, President, CMAI, stated that participation from brands and retailers resulted in substantive commercial engagement. He observed that business traction and order volumes reflected confidence in the market and indicated resilience within the sector.

Rohit Munjal, Vice President and Chairman of the Fair Committee, CMAI, said the fair continues to attract sustained interest from manufacturers, brands, and buyers, with editions regularly reaching full capacity in advance. He added that consistent participation has reinforced NGF’s position as a central platform for the apparel ecosystem.

Spread across nearly 700,000 sq. ft., the fair featured over 1,085 brands across 1,070 stalls. Product categories included women’s wear, men’s wear, kids’ wear, and accessories, presenting Spring–Summer collections and design updates for the upcoming season.

Exhibitors reported positive business outcomes. Bhavesh Rajkumar Dewani, CEO, Butterfly (Menswear), Indore, noted that the fair continues to serve as a strong booking and brand-building platform, with this edition reflecting gradual recovery in the domestic apparel market.

Aman Khattar of Baby Naturally (Kidswear), New Delhi, said the fair enables engagement with buyers from across India and functions as both a business and branding platform. Sahil Khan of Buddy Vs Buff (Menswear), Ludhiana, described the response at his company’s first participation as exceeding expectations, particularly with Gen Z emerging as an important consumer segment.

Arwind Patel, Director, XN Sports (Kidswear), Mumbai, said the fair provided exposure to new customers and agents, with order volumes indicating anticipated growth of 10–15 percent. Shivanshu Agarwal of Gemini (Women’s Wear), Kolkata, observed higher footfall compared to previous years and continued B2B growth alongside online sales.

Apurv Ghiya of Rajputana (Women’s Wear), Jaipur, added that the fair remains an important marker for the summer season and reflects steady growth in domestic apparel demand, supported by rising purchasing power across regions.
