Industry leaders, policymakers and global cotton stakeholders to discuss sustainability, technology, trade and the future of India’s cotton value chain
The Indian Cotton Federation (ICF), in association with ICAL, Bathinda, will host the 7th Biennial All India Cotton Conference 2026 on 21st and 22nd August 2026 at Hotel Le Méridien, Coimbatore.
With more than 450 delegates already registered, the conference is expected to attract participants from across India and international markets, providing a platform for engagement across the cotton and textile industry.
The two-day programme will bring together cotton farmers, ginners, agents, traders, spinners, textile manufacturers, machinery manufacturers, policymakers, technology providers and global cotton experts to discuss opportunities, challenges and emerging developments influencing the cotton sector.
The conference will be attended by Chief Guest Shri Lalit Kumar Gupta, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Cotton Corporation of India (CCI). Representing the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, will be Shri Purnesh Gururani, Director (Fibre), and Shri Sourabh Kulkarni, Joint Textile Commissioner (Cotton).
The participation of senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles and CCI provides an opportunity for interaction between government representatives and industry stakeholders on matters related to the cotton sector and India’s textile economy.
The conference theme, “Cotton – The Sustainable Fibre of the Future,” reflects ongoing developments across the global textile industry.
Cotton is increasingly being recognised as a value-added, traceable, sustainable and environmentally responsible fibre, alongside its role as a traditional raw material. As consumers and global brands place greater emphasis on sustainability, transparency and responsible sourcing, the conference will examine opportunities for India’s cotton and textile industry.
India has one of the world's largest cotton-growing areas and an integrated textile ecosystem covering farming, ginning, trading, spinning, weaving, processing and garmenting. Discussions will focus on how this ecosystem can strengthen value creation, competitiveness and international positioning.
Conference sessions will cover global cotton demand and supply, crop prospects for 2026–27, the future of spinning, cotton pricing and policy, sustainability, cotton provenance and traceability, artificial intelligence and market intelligence, and India’s role in the evolving global textile landscape.
A key area of discussion will be how the Indian cotton industry can respond to changing requirements in international markets.
The programme will also examine the role of technology and innovation, including artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital platforms and traceability technologies, in cotton production, trade, processing and consumption. Discussions will explore how these technologies can support improvements in efficiency, transparency, quality and decision-making.
Sustainability will be another major focus, with sessions examining quality, provenance, traceability and responsible production from farm to finished product. These areas are expected to be discussed in the context of strengthening the recognition of Indian cotton in international textile markets.
The conference will also provide a forum for interaction between industry representatives and government on issues including cotton policy, market competitiveness, imports, MSP, quality standards and the broader objective of strengthening India’s textile exports.
The role of cotton within India’s textile ecosystem and its contribution to the country's export ambitions will also be part of the discussions, with emphasis on improving competitiveness across the value chain.
According to the organisers, the future growth of the Indian cotton sector will depend on collaboration, innovation, sustainability and value addition across the industry.
The organisers have invited stakeholders from across the cotton and textile sector to participate in the conference and contribute to discussions on the future development of Indian cotton.
The conference is expected to provide opportunities for industry leaders and policymakers to exchange perspectives, review global market developments, establish business connections and discuss practical approaches for the sector.
