There is no one directly from the fashion industry among the top 75 names in US business magazine Forbes’ annual list of the 100 most powerful women in the world, most likely because the pandemic was the priority the world over. Among singers who have branched out into fashion are Rihanna, ranked 69th, in the list and Beyonce, who was ranked 72nd.

Rihanna co-owns her make-up brand Fenty Beauty with luxury group LVMH. Beyonce, who started her activewear line Ivy Park in 2016, announced a new partnership with Adidas to relaunch her label.

Tory Burch of the New York namesake fashion label has the 88th rank and Renuka Jagtiani, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Dubai-based Landmark Group that sells apparel, footwear, cosmetics and beauty products, is ranked 98th.

Walmart CEO Judith McKenna is at No. 17 and Alibaba chief financial officer Maggie Wei Wu at No. 60.

Unlike in previous years, there were no designers, models or other representatives of the fashion industry among Forbes’ 17th annual 100 most powerful women in 2020 list.
