GITEGA – In an attempt to expand Burundi’s agricultural industry’s East African economy, which accounts for 90 percent of the country’s exports, a new development plan has been unveiled that will concentrate on training women workers in the manufacture of garments.

Burundi’s production of cotton and other raw materials is lucrative, and so it is hoped that by equipping more workers with the skills required to manufacture products using those resources, it would be mutually beneficial to both people and the economy.
