During a virtual event taking place in July, more than 20 brands, members of the Footwear Association of the Northwest of the Region of Murcia (CALZIA), will showcase their creations, samples, and manufacturing videos.

Each footwear brand will have its own virtual space during the Youte Festival 2020, taking place on www.youte.es July 14 – 17 for professionals only. The digital event will also be open to the general public on July 23 – 26. “As a consequence of the Covid-19, this edition cannot be held physically nor, as was the case in 2019, host reverse trade missions. Therefore, it will take place virtually and will be the first event of this kind for the footwear sector in Europe”, said the organisers, adding that the event will also test new ways of attracting new international clients through professional social networking. The digital footwear event is also to host a knowledge forum, where experts will address issues such as digitisation, application of 3D technologies in new customer relationships and the necessary adaptation of retail to the new post-Covid reality.

Especially in the northwest region, Alhama de Murcia and Yecla, the Spanish region of Murcia is said to export almost €100 million worth of footwear annually, generating 2,000 jobs. In the first four months of the year, exports contracted 24.7% compared with the previous year, with Italy and the U.S. representing the biggest fall in demand.
